This compilation contains speeches from great works of European drama that have been translated or adapted by Robert David MacDonald, director of the Citizens' Theatre Company for over thirty years and holder of the Goethe Medal for services to German Literature. His translations of over seventy works of European drama and his many original plays have been performed around the world, including productions at the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company, in the West End and on Broadway. The collection includes speeches from such classics as Goethe's Faust, Beaumarchais' The Marriage of Figaro, Schiller's Don Carlos, Racine's Britannicus and many more.
